After nearly two hours, we were finally off.
Those people who said that it was a slow pace, a very easy walk...they LIED! I could barely keep up handing out bookmarks. I kept losing my float. People lined the route, cheering and waving. If I missed saying hey to anyone, I apologize.
And that is Shane Denu playing the fat lady. Poor guy. He was in that costume all afternoon and I'm sure he was burning up.

And so we waited....
We were 111th out of 130 floats. It was a long (two hours plus) wait. Fortunately, we on had one slight sprinkle when predictions were for a downpour. That would have made us mad. Some of the floats were back before we even left.
The organizer behind the float
Our very own Corina Mack was the person behind the float. She also organizes Chalk Walk and other special event. Thank you, Corina!
Our Strassenfest parade float
FINALLY! The big day arrived. After months of preparation, hours of work, we're finally ready to reveal our float for the first time.

Strassenfest visitors
We were delighted to have some very special Strassenfest visitors today. The queen and her attendants stopped by this morning. Also, remember, we will have our own float entry into the parade on Sunday. Watch for us. We're number 111th!
